Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance Announces Featured Classes for 2017

RADNOR HUNT CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE ANNOUNCES FEATURED CLASSES

Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance  21st Annual featured marques are Auburn/Cord/Duesenberg, Race Cars of Roger Penske, Abarth and Classic Tractors.  Motorcycles are Century Cycles, Inter-War Elegance, Sporting European Motorcycles and Victorian Bicycles and High Wheelers

 

Malvern, PA December 1, 2016 – The Car Selection Committee and Motorcycle Committee of the Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance announced that the featured classes of the 21st Annual event are Auburn/Cord/Duesenberg, Race Cars of Roger Penske, Abarth and Classic Tractors.  Motorcycle classes are Century Cycles (1897-1917),Sporting European Motorcycles (1939-1990), Elegant Motorcycles of the Inter-War Period (1917-1939) and Victorian Bicycles and High Wheelers. The concours takes place September 8, 9 and 10 on the grounds of Radnor Hunt in Malvern, Pennsylvania.

 

“This year we will feature the consummate American icons of Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg along with the Race Cars of Roger Penske. Also this year we will be including the cars of Abarth and classic tractors,” said Michael G. Tillson III, chairman, Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance.  The motorcycle field will feature Century Cycles (1897-1917),Sporting European Motorcycles (1939-1990), Elegant Motorcycles of the Inter-War Period (1917-1939) and Victorian Bicycles and High Wheelers. The 2017 event will be on 9/10 and we will celebrate our twenty-first consecutive year with a display of vintage horse-drawn coaches and carriages that illustrate the evolution of transportation.”

 

The Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance encompasses three days of activities beginning with the Friday evening Barbecue, followed by the always popular Road Rally through the scenic countryside of Chester County on Saturday morning, culminating in a catered lunch. The Saturday evening Black Tie Gala and Art Show Preview is the prelude to the main event, the concours d’elegance on Sunday.

 

Each year, the concours event, an invitation-only show, has a featured marque, a vehicle type or coachbuilder and a motorcycle make. The 2017 event will showcase the elegance, speed and style of the automotive icons from Indiana; Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg along with Roger Penske Race Cars and cars modified by Italian tuner Carlo Abarth. Included in this year’s lineup will also be Classic Tractors.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Thorncroft Equestrian Center in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The Thorncroft Equestrian Center is committed to a mainstreaming approach for teaching horseback riding and to promoting the development of new and independent therapeutic riding programs, particularly for those with special needs.

The Radnor Hunt Concours d’Elegance debuted in 1997 and is an invitation-only event that assembles one hundred of the most interesting and significant automobiles based on a featured automobile marque, vehicle type or coachbuilder and motorcycle marque each year. The event was also the first nationally recognized concours to feature motorcycles on the show field and is the only one to feature horse-drawn coaches and carriages.
